Our New Mini Bus - The Open Road Project
Thanks to the incredible support of The National Lottery Community Fund, Aim Up is proud to announce the arrival of our new wheelchair accessible minibus as part of The Open Road Project.
This funding has transformed the way we support adults with disabilities, complex needs and mental health conditions across Gloucestershire. For many of the people we support, transport has long been one of the biggest barriers to independence. Relying on public transport, taxis or multiple smaller vehicles often meant that opportunities had to be limited or missed altogether.
Our new minibus is already making a real difference.
It has enabled more people to attend activities at The Hub, our community activity centre in Cheltenham, bringing people together to learn new skills, build confidence and form meaningful friendships. Travelling together has become part of the experience, creating conversations, laughter and connections before the activity has even begun.
As we look ahead, the impact will continue to grow. Throughout the year we have a range of day trips and holidays planned, giving the people we support the chance to explore new places, enjoy memorable experiences and spend quality time with friends. The minibus means these opportunities are now accessible to more people than ever before, including wheelchair users and those who previously faced significant barriers to travel.
The Open Road Project is about far more than transport. It is about opening doors to independence, reducing isolation, improving wellbeing and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to experience everything their community has to offer.
We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund and to every National Lottery player. Your support has helped make this project possible, creating opportunities that will continue to change lives across Gloucestershire for many years to come.
