The Garden Project

The Garden Project

Our Garden Project is the result of an All Service User annual meeting and monthly forums, in which many of our service users expressed an interest in an outdoor space, where they could enjoy the fresh air, and learn about gardening, wildlife and eventual a kitchen garden.

Over the last three years our gardener has worked hard to develop the space which has become an incredible asset to our services. The fully inclusive and accessible garden space supports our service user’s confidence alongside their mental and physical health.

The Garden is a creative space, and variety of activities and projects take place here each week. Our educational sessions surround how to nurture and create a thriving garden, where our food comes from, healthy eating and cookery as well as DIY and workshop skills and safety.

Based in the walled gardens of one of our supported living properties, most of our activities take place within these gardens as they are fully equipped with a poly tunnel, compost areas, raised beds a summer house and much more. We venture out to explore the local countryside and develop our orienteering skills and often provide gardening services to other supported living properties, working hard to improve their gardens – by cutting grass, pulling up weeds, and trimming bushes.

In 2021, we created and published this video during The Royal Horticultural Society, National Gardening Week, which shines a light on how getting a dose of gardening can be so beneficial to our health and wellbeing! Watch this video to find out more of the amazing things we have been did at the Garden Project in 2021!
